Appifire Installation & Setup Checklist for Shopify Stores
A practical setup checklist for installing Appifire AI Chat, syncing products, and confirming storefront widget behavior.
You will finish install, sync, widget, order-status, and billing checks so Appifire AI Chat is safe to show shoppers.
Use this checklist after install when you want to go live without common setup mistakes.
What you need first
- Appifire AI Chat installed from Shopify
- Admin access to approve scopes and open the app
- Ability to open the live theme or a theme preview
- At least one known product SKU and (if you use order chat) one real order number
Checklist steps
1) Confirm install and access
- Open Appifire AI Chat in Shopify admin once after install so onboarding can finish.
- Check that required scopes are approved.
- Approve theme access.
- Approve order-read access if you want order-status answers in chat.
Failure case: Order chat fails later with “not found” or empty status. Fix scopes first, then retest with #1001.
2) Check that product sync started
Appifire starts a full product sync after auth. Products are saved, then split into knowledge chunks for answers.
Check:
- Core products show in your app data
- Variants, pricing, SKU, and inventory details are present
- A recent product edit in Shopify shows up after webhook update (or after a short wait)
Failure case: Answers mention old prices or missing sizes. Re-check the product in Shopify, wait for sync, then ask again from the storefront.
3) Set storefront widget basics
In Settings, set these before launch:
- Widget title
- Welcome message
- Brand color
- Bubble position (left or right)
- Widget enabled toggle (on)
You can hide the widget with the visibility toggle. You do not need to uninstall to turn chat off.
4) Test storefront behavior end to end
On the theme you will publish:
- Open the chat bubble.
- Check welcome text and branding.
- Ask a product question for a known item.
- Check that the reply matches Shopify data.
- If you use order status, ask with
#1001ororder: 1001.
Failure case: Bubble missing on one theme but visible on another. The active theme or theme code is blocking the extension. See the troubleshooting playbook.
5) Add day-to-day guardrails
Before traffic rises:
- Set low-balance or usage alert preferences if your team uses them
- Decide where unresolved chats should go (email or support inbox)
- Open Billing so the team can see Free usage (500 AI replies every month) or Pro credit balance
What success looks like
- Widget visible on the theme you will publish
- Product answers correct on real SKUs
- Order-status path tested if you use it
- Billing page open and understood by support
- Handoff path written down for refunds and disputes (human channel)
Why this checklist matters
| Shortcut | Risk | What this checklist protects |
|---|---|---|
| Install without product tests | Wrong answers on day one | Known-SKU product checks |
| Skip order-access checks | Order chat fails quietly | Order-read + real order number tests |
| Leave widget mis-branded | Shoppers ignore chat | Title, welcome, color, position |
| No billing visibility | Surprise reply blocks | Usage and credit awareness for the team |
Limits and non-goals
- Finishing the checklist does not fix empty product descriptions
- Order chat still needs scopes and a usable order number
- Theme conflicts can still hide the widget; use the troubleshooting playbook
- Free plan includes 500 AI replies every month. Pro is $20/month. Check pack details on pricing or in-app Billing when needed.
