Getting Started with Appifire AI Chat on Shopify
Install Appifire AI Chat, sync your catalog, and start answering customer product and order questions in minutes.
You will install Appifire AI Chat on Shopify. You will check product sync. You will show the chat widget. You will test real product and order questions.
When you finish, shoppers can ask about products, policies, and order status from your store data. You do not need custom chat scripts.
What you need first
- A Shopify store where you can install apps
- Ability to approve app scopes (theme access; order-read if you want order-status chat)
- Access to the live theme or a theme preview so you can check the widget
- A few real product names and at least one real order number for tests (for example
#1001)
Steps
- Install Appifire AI Chat from Shopify.
- Finish onboarding and approve the access Shopify shows.
- Check that the first catalog sync started. Products should begin loading into Appifire knowledge.
- Open Settings and check that the chat widget is enabled.
- Set widget title, welcome message, brand color, and bubble position (left or right).
- Open your storefront. Open the chat bubble. Ask a product question you already know the answer to.
- If you use order status, ask with a real order format such as
#1001ororder: 1001. - If a reply is vague or wrong, fix the product fields in Shopify first. Then re-check chat. Do not keep tweaking wording while the catalog is thin.
If something fails early
| What you see | Likely cause | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| Install stops on permissions | Scopes not approved | Re-open the app and approve theme (and order-read if needed) |
| Chat bubble missing | Widget off, wrong theme, or theme conflict | Turn the widget on, test the active theme, then use the troubleshooting playbook |
| Product answers feel empty | Sync still running or thin product text | Wait for sync, then fill title, description, and variants |
| Order chat says not found | Wrong number, missing order-read, or bad format | Retry with #1001 style and check order access |
What success looks like
- The chat bubble shows on the storefront
- Welcome text and brand color match Settings
- Product answers use real catalog details (price, variants, or description facts)
- Order questions return live status or tracking context, or a clear not-found path to support
- Your team knows where Billing shows monthly reply usage
Short vs common alternatives
| Approach | Gap | Appifire AI Chat |
|---|---|---|
| FAQ pages + email only | Slow for repeat asks | Storefront answers from store knowledge |
| Generic AI paste-in | Easy to invent product facts | Shopify app with store-scoped product and order context |
| Rule-based chat flows | Breaks when shoppers phrase things differently | Natural questions against synced catalog data |
| Full helpdesk first | Heavy if you only need storefront Q&A | Product and order-status chat on the store |
Limits and non-goals
- Appifire is not a full ticket helpdesk for refunds, chargebacks, or disputes. Keep those with people.
- Thin product copy still produces thin answers. Fix Shopify product data when replies feel vague.
- Order lookup needs a usable order number and the right Shopify access.
- Free plan includes 500 AI replies every month. Pro is $20/month. Pack sizes and live balances are shown on pricing and in the in-app Billing screen.
